About Library Catalogs

Books, Journals, Course Reserves, Online Renewals and More
Melvyl (UC-wide, web-based)
Melvyl is the library catalog for all campuses of the UC system, containing
records for books, journals, conferences and other materials. It also contains the most complete coverage of libraries on the UC Berkeley campus. Melvyl has a
request feature that allows UCB faculty, staff and students to ask for items
that are not available in the UCB Libraries.

GLADIS (UC Berkeley only, telnet-based) | What is telnet?
GLADIS is the UC Berkeley catalog, which lists all materials in Doe Library, Moffit Library, and most other libraries on campus. GLADIS is the only catalog that includes accurate circulation information, bindery
information, course reserve information, and allows you to renew your materials
online.

Pathfinder (UC Berkeley only, web-based)
Pathfinder is the web version of GLADIS; like GLADIS, Pathfinder lists materials in most libraries on the Berkeley campus. It has an easy-to-use web interface,
and is best for requesting books, journal volumes, journal articles and conference
proceedings stored at the Northern Regional Library Facility (NRLF).

UC-eLinks Single Citation Linker
The UC-eLinks Single Citation Linker is a service that allows you to locate
the full text of an article from a citation. Your search results will show a direct
link to online full text of the article or links to the Melvyl catalog for
library holdings and call numbers. The UC-eLinks Single Citation Linker also allows UC Berkeley
faculty, staff, and students to request materials from another library, if not owned by UC Berkeley.
Note: All fields do not need to be filled in for full-text
access. The Author and Title fields are only useful for the Request feature.

Libraries Beyond UC
WorldCat (UC-only access)
WorldCat is a shared catalog for numerous libraries worldwide. This catalog
is best used to find materials not found in either Melvyl or GLADIS. UCB faculty,
staff and students can use UC-eLinks
to request items via interlibrary loan (ILL) if not owned by the UCB Libraries.
