Copying, Printing, & Scanning

The VLSB Copy Center has self-service copiers and offers full over-the-counter services, including:

• Standard & Bookcopying
• Reduction/enlargement copying
• Color copying
• Color transparencies
• Scanning services

The Copy Center accepts cash, checks, MasterCard, Visa and American Express.

Copy Center Hours: (for full services and scanning:)

• Monday - Thursday: 9:00am to 5:45pm
• Friday: 9:00am to 4:45pm
• Sunday: 1pm to 4:45pm (Fall and Spring Semester only)

Scanning Services

The VLSB Copy Center offers black & white and color scanning services. Scans may be made from pages or books up to 11"x17". Black & white scanning is self-service or can be done for you by the attendant. Color scans are full-service only. All scans may be saved to your floppy disk, flash drive, or CD-RW disk (also available for purchase) in high-quality PDF Format (image only, no OCR). They can also be e-mailed to you. Scanning services are only available during Copy Center hours. All full-service scanning is taxable.

Basic Pricing as of January 16, 2008 (prices subject to change):

• Blank copy cards cost 75¢.
• All cards bought from vending machines are public rate cards, and charged 15¢ per b/w copy.
• Cards purchased from the Copy Center attendant by UC Berkeley faculty, staff and students are staff and student rate cards, and charged 10¢ per b/w copy.
• Color copies are full-service: 60¢ ea. + tax. (90¢ for public rate cards)
• Microfilm/microfiche: 15¢ per copy for all cards.
• Scanning (full-service): 8¢ for UCB patrons (13¢ for public rate cards).
• Internet printing: 13¢ b/w for all cards.
• Color Internet printing: 60¢ for staff and student rate cards, (90¢ for public rate cards)

 

"Where are the bathrooms?" and other FAQs:

Where are the bathrooms?
Take the spiral staircase outside the library, up or down one floor, you'll find restrooms down the hall to your left.

Where is the nearest payphone/campus phone?
The nearest payphone is in the hallway outside the library to the right, next to the elevators. The nearest campus phone is on the far (east) side of VLSB's second floor. It is on the wall in the hallway.

Where is the nearest drinking fountain and/or vending machine?
There is a drinking fountain in the hallway just outside the library to the south next to the elevators. It is Library Policy to ask PATRONS who bring FOOD or DRINK into the library to take their bags and LEAVE the library. Food and drink stain the carpet and attract bugs, which leads to damaged books. For food and beverage machines go downstairs to the first floor. The juice, candy, and soda machines are located next to the building elevator on the west side (the library side) of the building.
