The results of a search, selections from a search, or selections from multiple searches
(by using the PubMed clipboard) can be imported from PubMed to Refworks.
Make your selections to be imported, then follow these directions:
1. In the PubMed search results screen, change the display to MEDLINE by first selecting MEDLINE from the "Display" pulldown menu.
2. Next, select Text in the "Send to" pulldown menu. When you click the "Send to" button, a page will open with the citations you've selected. Use the edit menu of your browser to select all, and then copy all the text.
3. Now
open your RefWorks account in a new browser window:
www.refworks.com/Refworks/login.asp
4. Login to your RefWorks account with your username and password. (If you are a new user, you may sign up for your individual account from a link on this page).
5. Once
you have successfully opened your account, select "References...Import" to
open the RefWorks Import Form.
6. Select the NLM PubMed filter in the first pulldown menu (Import Filter/Data Source). Make sure that PubMed is shown in the "Database" box. Then mark "Import Data from the following Text"
7. Use your browser's edit menu to paste the text in this box.
8. At the bottom of the form, click the Import button.
9. After a few seconds, the computer will display: Importing references, please wait..., then a series of astrisks then appears one by one. After they stop appearing, RefWorks will tell you how many records were imported.
10. Click View last imported folder to see your imported citations.
